Great location, staff were exceptional especially Helen at reception who couldn’t do enough for us and really went above and beyond when there was a small issue with our booking. Room was newly renovated and could not fault at all, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was brand new and the waterfall shower in particular was very welcome. Location is great in Dublin also and great value for money overall. Would definitely return!

One night at Hotel St. George

We stayed at Hotel St. George for one night during a 7 day trip through Ireland, and it was the worst accommodations we had during our trip. We had booked a double room, and we were placed in a four-person room with one double bed and two twins. I asked about this at the front desk and, hilariously, we were told it was a “free upgrade.” Not that they ran out of double rooms and had to give us a different room, but that somehow giving us two extra beds that we clearly in no way needed was an “upgrade.” Our “upgraded” room also happened to be at the very rear of the hotel above the dumpsters, so it had a lovely rotting trash smell. This "upgraded" room was grimey and just not clean. There were dents and scuff marks in the walls, the carpet was so gross that I didn't want to walk on it with bare feet, and the bathroom was not in a great state. The bathtub had chips in the enamel, and seemed to be missing the front panel, and there was a bit of mold in the shower. Everything felt just slightly damp to the touch, including towels and bedclothes. The headboard was attached to the wall partially overtop of the electrical outlets, meaning that the headboard kept flipping the switch to provide power to the outlet so our phones didn’t charge. Our room looked nothing at all like the photos provided online. The walls were bare and grey and actually dirty. Other than the four beds, the only other furniture in the room was a small desk which was, similar to the rest of the room, scuffed and chipped. I wish I had taken photos of the room to show how very unlike any of the promotional images our room was. It was as if we were staying in a completely different hotel. More like a motel. I’m trying to think of pros for this hotel and I can’t really think of any, other than that because we were all the way in the back above the dumpsters, it wasn’t too loud. And look, I'm generally not super picky with hotels. I've stayed in places of similar quality without complaint, but the different was that they cost significantly less than Hotel St. George. With what we paid, we were expecting a classy boutique hotel experience. It seems like with Hotel St. George, we were just paying for the convenience of being close to the city center. Fortunately we weren’t there for long as we checked out very early the next morning for our flight. If we had been there longer, I would have asked to be moved to a cleaner, better smelling room, or even gone to a different hotel altogether. We found free street parking not too far away because it was Sunday, and since left early on Monday morning we didn’t end up having to pay to park. Hotel St. George definitely wants people to think it’s a nice boutique hotel, based on the way the lobby is decorated and the way they brand themselves online, but it couldn't be more obvious that they don't care about their guests, only their wallets. I'm very disappointed that our last night in Ireland was spent here. We will not be returning and will advise others to stay away.

The hotel staff helped us very much with restaurant selection, reservations, and taxi arrangement to the airport. The location was near to the city center that we were seeing. I appreciate the helpfulness of the staff and housekeeping.

Not quite a 5. Enough for. 4 star rating. Quaint little hotel. Staffmembers were excellent. Very friendly and accomodating. Much more than regular hotels. Room was at end of building. Clean. Bed was comfy. There was a slight hum emanating from the wall in the bathroom that sounded like a ceiling fan. Not really that bothersome as it helped lull me to sleep. It may bother some people. Over all, price was right and a value for accomodations.

We were on the fourth floor, hardly slept due to the noise upstairs. Clearly no insulation between the floors. Horrible experience coming back in the evening and having to walk through the cigarette smoke of the staff stood in the front entrance
